Justice

What is justice?

It’s a hard concept to pin down and even harder to put into effect.

But most definitely worth pursuing.

When we live without justice we also live without –

Peace

Hope

Happiness

Well-being

Progress

There really isn’t an easy formula for justice, even within our legal systems. But maybe there are principles we can apply, both personally and in our societies, in our pursuit of justice?

How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust?…To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust.

  1. I don’t just LIKE this post: I CELEBRATE it!!! Justice requires adherence to the Creator’s law, especially the unspoken, unwritten parts that define each of us the way we were intended to be by our Maker! Justice is never completely realized until we abide within the peace, hope, happiness, and well-being He intends for us. Justice is more than just laws; it is just actions that justly mirror our God-likeness back to the Creator.

  2. I agree and I believe this is the way that the world will (eventually!) change – no real justice exists in a society if it is only at a judicial level. It has to be a movement deep in the spirit of the individuals before it really can take hold. Thanks.
