Reading Reality

We all see the world through a variety of lenses.

The lenses we use have been developed in our cultures, through our experiences, from our beliefs and hopes and (especially) our fears.  These ways of looking at the world are so much part of us that we mostly don’t even notice them.

I can see clearly now…

How about we change the lens we use when we are looking for truth?  Instead of using subjective goggles that may be altering reality without our even realising, we could choose to use a lens like justice to help us see more clearly.

“…by its aid thou shalt see through thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbour.”(1)

Choosing to use justice as a lens to look at reality won’t stop us making mistakes but it will help us to more clearly see reality for ourselves.  Which can’t be bad 🙂
