Become Someone You Can Admire

We wonder how to be in the world.  What to do.  Where to go.  We spend our lives trying to ‘be’ someone.

Why?  We are all already someone.

Stop worrying about what others think.

Here’s the only real question – what do you think?

You’ll never be able to get away from yourself so

For that reason – if no other

Try to become someone you can admire.

Path revealed.

Problem solved.

To love is to admire with the heart; to admire is to love with the mind– Theophile Gautier

  1. How true it is: we must engage both mind and heart to connect with ourselves and to connect with others! How can we expect to “shine our light from a hill” if we carry around a lantern whose glass is fogged over with self-debasement? Since shedding 20 plus years of self-effacement and returning to writing every day since the end of September of 2011, then blogging almost every day, I begun to scratch the surface of what it means to be free to admire what I am becoming! I am in your debt for this post, officially giving me license to grow into self-admiration.

  2. These words are priceless. To admire with the heart is to me unconditional love. As usual I love the way you present these gems of Truth.

  3. Beautiful words we should all memorise and repeat to ourselves often. I have nominated you for the 7 x 7 Link award. See my blog for details.

  4. I just realized that I had not yet subscribed to your blog. I’ve taken care of that oversight. I love the things you have to say, and I look forward to lots more great reading.

Self admiration is the second step in the process of learning to love one another. First comes self-forgiveness! Once we can forgive ourselves we are free to love ourselves for exactly who we are, and therefore to love others as we love ourselves. Loving and admiring oneself is suh an important part of being human. It is unfortunate that in some cases people will confuse self-admiration with self-aggrandizement! For some it’s just a short step away. . .

Keep writing and have a great 2012 filled with the abundance of enough. . .
